The Bill Hero Fuel Price Index (BHFPI) will track petrol and diesel pricing cycles across Australian capital cities using FuelWatch and state API data.

What we'll track:

✓ Median 91 RON petrol price (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide)
✓ Diesel pricing trends
✓ Price cycle patterns (peak-to-trough savings)
✓ Metro vs regional pricing gap
✓ Weekly index with monthly smoothing

Why We're Building This

Fuel prices follow predictable weekly cycles, but most Australians don't know when to fill up or how much they could save by timing their purchase.

The BHFPI will quantify the savings opportunity — showing average cycle amplitude, optimal fill-up timing, and long-term pricing trends by city.
