It operates Eraring, Australia's largest coal power station, with a commitment to close it by 2027. Origin offers GreenPower-accredited products, solar and battery solutions, and broadband bundles. Origin Energy Ltd is an Australian public company listed on the ASX (ASX: ORG). Formed in 2000 when Boral demerged its energy assets. In 2023, a consortium of Brookfield Asset Management and EIG Global Energy Partners made an A$18 billion takeover offer, accepted by the board but ultimately terminated after AustralianSuper (holding ~17%) blocked the deal. Origin remains Australian-controlled.
