Snowy Hydro is itself 100% owned by the Australian Commonwealth Government (the Federal Government bought out NSW and Victorian stakes in March 2018). Red Energy was launched in 2004 as Snowy Hydro's retail brand and has grown to serve over one million customers (combined with sister brand Lumo Energy). Its award-winning call centre is based in Melbourne.
