Originally the Australian arm of UK-based OVO Group Ltd (founded 2009 by Stephen Fitzpatrick). AGL Energy acquired OVO Energy Australia in H2 FY2024. In December 2024, OVO applied to the AER to surrender its electricity and gas retailer authorisations, with customer accounts transferring to AGL by mid-2025.
